Andy is one of the quartet that has been chosen to direct within this year's FourPlay season. He's been a Crescent member since August 2006. His first appearance on a Crescent stage was as Serge in Yasmin Reza's ART. Subsequent appearances include playing Al Lewis in Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys, Dr. Chebutykin in Chekhov's Three Sisters and most recently Sid James in Terry Johnson's Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick.
Prior to the Crescent he had five years with Tamworth’s award winning community theatre group TACT. Personal highlights from this period include roles such as Roderick Usher in Berkoff’s Fall of the House of Usher, Lakshman in The Ramayana, Macduff in Macbeth, and the Gestapo Commandant in Julia Pascal’s Theresa (part one of her Holocaust Trilogy).
Andy's experience of theatre directing is somewhat more limited. In 2001 he took his own adaption of The Water Babies (20 minutes long and completely silent) to the Edinburgh Fringe. More recently in 2007 he directed two 20 minute shorts - Buried and Fallout as part of the Crescent's BigScript project.
100 will be Andy's first opportunity to direct beyond 20 minutes and he is very much looking forward to it.
